A Little About Me
Welcome to 3rd grade!
I received my Bachelorís Degree from Kansas State University, and have been teaching for 31 years. My husband and I relocated to the area because of his job managing Rosehill Bank in Augusta and to reside closer to two of our four sons. Classroom News: Bi-weekly newsletters will be sent home.
Discipline: A Clip Chart system is used. All students start each day on Green, and are able to move up or down based on choices made. Once moving down, a child could move up again if he makes another choice during the day that is exceptional. Please notice the color at the bottom of the planner each day, as it will indicate the dayís behavior.

Homework: 3rd graders have 30 minutes of homework nightly with the exception of Friday through Sunday. Students will usually have Spelling and/or Math homework, and are expected to practice math flash cards and do reading for A.R. If daily in-class work is not completed,it will become extra homework that evening.

Course Study: Course Study: Reading, Religion, Math, Social Studies, Science, Spelling, Phonics, Writing, Grammar, and Penmanship. We take the state assessments in Reading and Math. Third graders will also be tested in the spring on Religion. Before having to be accountable on independent work, much time has been spent working in small groups or partners. Collaboration, providing evidence, and proving an answer will be stressed this year because of Common Core.

Religion & Mass: We attend Mass Tuesdays through Fridays. The 3rd graders will have reading responsibilities at each Thursday Mass.
